Police: Driver Of Stolen Car Runs From Cops Before Crashing Into Occupied Home

Police in Pinellas Park are searching for the driver of a stolen car that ran from officers and crashed into a home early Friday morning.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – Police in Pinellas Park are searching for the driver of a stolen car that ran from officers and crashed into a home early Friday morning.

This morning at approximately 5:30 am a white Kia Van was seen swerving between lanes of traffic without headlights.

P{police say that a traffic stop was conducted on 70th Avenue, and the vehicle did stop.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and fled east on 70th Avenue.

Investigators say a short time later, the vehicle crashed into an occupied single-family residence. The occupant(s) of the vehicle fled on foot and remains unidentified.

Three occupants of the home were believed to be asleep when this occurred. One of the residents was thrown across the room due to the crash’s impact. She was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. We have learned that the involved vehicle was stolen from another residence in Pinellas Park last night.

The family will be displaced due to the structural damage to the home and will be staying with relatives.
