Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) held a press conference Wednesday alongside several Republican senators, pushing for the swift passage of the SAVE Act, a bill co-sponsored with Senator Mike Lee (R-UT).
The legislation aims to safeguard the integrity of U.S. elections by ensuring that only U.S. citizens are allowed to vote.
Joining Scott at the event were Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Roger Marshall (R-KS), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).

During the press conference, Senator Scott argued that while Democrats claim existing laws already prevent noncitizens from voting in federal elections, additional action is necessary to ensure enforcement.
“If it’s already illegal for underage people to buy alcohol, why do we ask for ID? Why do we set up DUI checkpoints if drunk driving is illegal? The answer is simple: laws without enforcement are ineffective,” Scott said. “We need the SAVE Act to prevent Democrats from undermining our elections through illegal voting and fraud.”
Scott pointed to recent incidents in Alabama, Virginia, and Texas, where over 16,000 noncitizens were removed from voter rolls in August, with Texas reporting that up to 2,000 may have voted in past elections. He also cited a recent Department of Justice case involving an illegal immigrant who allegedly stole an identity and voted in multiple Alabama elections.

Scott criticized Democratic leaders like Vice President Kamala Harris and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, accusing them of allowing illegal immigration to affect U.S. elections.
Harris, Schumer, and the Democrats intentionally opened up the border and allowed more than 10 million people to come here illegally so they can vote in our elections and help Democrats win. We cannot tolerate a single non-citizen voting in U.S. elections. We need to get the SAVE Act passed today,’ said Scott.
The SAVE Act remains a key focus for Republicans as they push for stricter measures to protect election integrity.
