POLK COUNTY, Fla. – 39-year-old John Batista of Poinciana apparently missed the memo about keeping calm and carrying on. Instead, he decided to throw an adult-sized temper tantrum on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a one-way ticket to the Polk County Jail.

The drama unfolded on Amazon Lane, where deputies responded to a disturbance call. It seems Batista had been a bit too hands-on during an argument, allegedly pushing a woman and striking a man.

When a deputy tried to get Batista’s side of the story, he decided to go full mime, refusing to speak. Perhaps he thought silence was golden, but in a criminal investigation, it’s more like a red flag.

Things escalated further when another deputy arrived. Batista’s aggression level went from zero to Hulk in record time, and attempts to calm him down were about as effective as reasoning with a toddler in a candy store.

When deputies tried to arrest him, Batista apparently thought he was auditioning for a WWE match, putting up a fierce fight. But in the end, the deputies prevailed, and Batista was safely secured in the back of a patrol car, deputies say.

He’s now facing a slew of charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, felony battery domestic, battery, and resisting without violence. And let’s not forget his previous conviction for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. It seems Batista has a knack for turning everyday disagreements into action-packed thrillers.

So, the moral of the story is: if you’re in Polk County and feeling a bit heated, maybe try a yoga class instead of assaulting people and resisting arrest. It’s likely to be a lot less painful – and definitely won’t land you in jail.
