POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 63-year-old Poinciana man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a standoff with Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies.

According to the PCSO, deputies responded to a battery complaint at a residence. When they arrived at approximately 12:00 AM on April 9th, 2025, the suspect, identified as Victor Santiago, retreated inside the home.

Deputies made multiple attempts to persuade Santiago to exit the residence peacefully, but he refused to comply.

Deputies then obtained Santiago’s phone number and initiated a text message dialogue, but he subsequently stopped responding to their messages.

Given Santiago’s criminal history, which includes battery on a law enforcement officer (LEO) and resisting arrest, deputies entered the home.

Deputy Audette and her K9 partner Rogue led the entry and located Santiago hiding between the bed and the wall in a corner bedroom. Despite the presence of deputies, Santiago continued to refuse to cooperate, claiming he was asleep.
