PLANT CITY, Fla. – Aaron Tyler Chasteen, 28, of Plant City, was arrested on multiple charges after police say he fired rounds at a woman’s feet and stole her vehicle.
On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Plant City Police Department responded to the area of 25 Mays St. to the report of a shooting.
“It was learned that a male subject pointed a firearm at two adult males who were on a golf cart. The male victims left the area on the golf cart and were followed in a vehicle by the suspect before deciding to turn off and no longer follow them,” said PCPD.

Police say a short time later, the suspect contacted an adult female that he knew. During the encounter, the suspect asked the victim for her vehicle keys, and she refused.
The suspect produced a firearm and fired three rounds into the ground near the victim’s feet before grabbing her vehicle keys and taking off in the vehicle. The victim was not injured.
Later, the victim’s vehicle was located by officers, and a traffic stop was initiated.
The suspect did not stop for the police, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued.
The pursuit ended in the area of W. Reynolds St and Pinecrest St. The suspect fled from the vehicle but was apprehended by a police K-9 after a short foot pursuit.
The suspect sustained a minor injury as a result of the apprehension. He was transported to an area hospital where he was medically cleared, before being transported to Central Booking.
Aaron Tyler Chasteen was charged with:
- Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
- Armed Carjacking
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Felon in Possession of Ammunition
- Discharge a Firearm in Public/Residential Property within 1000 feet of a Person
- Flee to Elude an Officer
- Driving while License Revoked – Habitual Offender
- Resist without Violence
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
