20-Year-Old Man Dead After Shootout In Pinellas Park

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to a shooting incident at Boardwalk Apartments in the 6400 block of 102nd Ave N.

On Tuesday, at approximately 1:53 AM, officers were dispatched to the scene in response to reports of a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that two adult males were engaged in a verbal altercation, which escalated into gunfire.

Both individuals fired shots at each other, injuring both men.

One of the individuals, Axel Geraldo Gilbert, 20, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The other shooter was transported to a local hospital where he is currently in stable condition and being interviewed by investigators.

“The investigation into the incident is currently active, and our dedicated team of detectives is diligently working to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” said Pinellas Park Police Department Sergeant Alexander Matson, PIO.
