Pinellas Park Police Arrest 13-Year-Old Following Accidental Shooting

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – The Pinellas Park Police Department has arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection to an accidental shooting that occurred on Sunday, July 14th.

Detectives’ investigation revealed that the incident took place at the suspect’s residence, where the victim, who was 13 years old, was visiting to play video games. The suspect allegedly entered a rented room within the house, where he was not permitted to be, and stole a Glock 44 .22 caliber handgun.

Later, while the two were playing video games, the suspect reportedly brandished the weapon and accidentally discharged it while manipulating it, striking the victim in the torso. The suspect then discarded the firearm over a fence, but investigators have since recovered it.

The investigation has determined that the shooting was accidental, but the suspect has been arrested and faces charges related to the incident. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment.
