PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Pinellas County Utilities has announced the immediate implementation of mandatory reclaimed water restrictions for customers residing in North County, effective today, April 28, 2025.

This measure is a response to a growing supply shortage caused by a combination of limited rainfall and increased customer demand.

The new restrictions, impacting all reclaimed water users north of State Road 580, limit irrigation to once per week, based on the last digit of their house address.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8: Permitted to irrigate on Saturdays.
  • Addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9: Permitted to irrigate on Wednesdays.
  • Mixed address or no address properties (e.g., common areas): Permitted to irrigate on Wednesdays.

Furthermore, Pinellas County Utilities has stated that no watering will be permitted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on any allowed irrigation day.

To further conserve the available supply and allow the system to recover, the North County reclaimed water system will be temporarily shut down on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

In a statement released by the county, officials emphasized the importance of these restrictions. “Conserving water now will help ensure all customers have access to reclaimed water and avoid additional limitations due to excessive demand,” the statement read.

The one-day-per-week irrigation schedule for North County customers is expected to remain in effect until the region experiences a return to typical seasonal rainfall patterns. These measures are also intended to facilitate the gradual restoration of the reclaimed water system to normal operating levels while ensuring sufficient water for lawn irrigation and maintaining adequate pressure for all affected customers.

Residents in North County are urged to adhere strictly to the new watering schedule to help mitigate the current water shortage and prevent further restrictions. Pinellas County Utilities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
