Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Restricting Access To All Barrier Islands, Closing Gulf Boulevard

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is restricting access to all barrier islands and closing Gulf Boulevard until further notice.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is restricting access to all barrier islands and closing Gulf Boulevard until further notice.

Those who leave the islands will not be allowed to return until storm impacts subside. This includes residents with a barrier island access pass.

Storm Surge and 40 to 60 mph wind gusts continue to impact Pinellas County. Residents are urged to stay off the roads and continue to shelter from the storm even after winds have subsided.

Advice & Information for Residents

– Avoid flooded areas and standing water. Do not wade through floodwaters, which could have live power lines, sewage, wildlife and dangerous objects.

– Monitor local news media, National Weather Service, disaster.pinellas.gov and search hashtag #PinellasIdalia

– Register for emergency alerts at pinellas.gov/alert-pinellas and download the new Ready Pinellas app in the App Store or Google Play for real-time storm updates.
