PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has been awarded a contract by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to implement a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) initiative aimed at improving pedestrian and bicycle safety throughout the county. The campaign will run through Friday, May 9, 2025.

PCSO deputies will conduct educational and enforcement details at 15 identified high-crash locations, focusing on promoting safe behaviors for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.

The initiative, funded through a partnership with the University of North Florida’s Institute of Police Technology Management (IPTM) and FDOT, aims to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities involving vulnerable road users.

The HVE campaign will distribute educational materials and issue warnings or citations to those who do not adhere to Florida Statutes.

The goal is to create a safer environment for everyone using Pinellas County roads.
