Detectives learned Mayton was transported to a local hospital for medical reasons later that same evening. Mayton was discharged from the hospital the next day and transported back to the Pinellas County Jail.
According to detectives, on February 9, 2022, Mayton was again transported to a local hospital for medical reasons. On February 10, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Mayton was pronounced deceased.
“At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Mayton was in any physical altercations or suffered any injuries while incarcerated,” said Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the cause and manner of death.
