Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 58-year-old inmate Gerald Moore.

Pinellas County Sheriff Investigates Inmate Death

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL, – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 58-year-old inmate Gerald Moore.

Detectives say Moore was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on October 2, 2021, after being arrested by the St Petersburg Police Department on two warrants for Failure to Appear on Violation of Probation for Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest with Violence.

Detectives learned Moore was transported to a local hospital for medical reasons on December 12, 2021.

On December 26, 2021, Moore was removed from life support and he was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Moore had been in any physical altercations or suffered any injuries while incarcerated.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the cause and manner of death.

Moore’s Next of Kin has been notified.
