Pinellas County Detectives Investigating Death Of 76-Year-Old Inmate

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 76-year-old inmate Ronald Conkright.

Detectives say Conkright was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on February 20, 2023, after being arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office for Two Counts of  Driving Under the Influence, One Count of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Two Counts of Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, Two Counts of Violation of Protection Order.

Detectives learned on Friday, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Conkright was transported to a local hospital for medical reasons. Conkright was pronounced deceased at the hospital on November 24, 2023, at approximately 3:49 p.m.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Conkright was involved in any physical altercations or sustained any injuries while incarcerated at the jail.

Conkright’s next of kin has been notified.
