PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force has concluded that the actions of three deputies involved in a shooting on November 8th were justified.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call. The suspect, Jeremy Reed, 42, had been involved in a verbal altercation with his wife and stepchildren.

Deputies learned that Reed had threatened his stepdaughter with a gun, establishing probable cause for his arrest. The situation escalated when Reed exited the residence with the gun and ran towards the area where his family was speaking with deputies.

Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Reed continued to advance, prompting three deputies – Jesse Creaser, Dylan Schultz, and Stuart Kellman – to discharge their firearms.

Reed was struck multiple times and taken into custody. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and is now in the Pinellas County Jail.

After a thorough investigation, including witness statements, physical evidence, and a review of the imminent threat posed by Reed, the task force determined that the deputies’ use of force was justified and in accordance with Florida law.
