PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – As the 2025 beach season approaches, Pinellas County is actively recruiting lifeguards to ensure the safety of visitors at its popular beach parks. Full-time and part-time positions are available from April through September at Fort De Soto and Sand Key parks.
The county is seeking individuals who are passionate about public safety and thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. Lifeguards will play a crucial role in protecting beachgoers during the busy swim season.

Pinellas County is offering competitive pay, starting at $19.25 per hour for new lifeguards and reaching up to $20.86 per hour for returning senior lifeguards. Lifeguards with Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification can earn even more. Ten-hour shifts may be available.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold an American Red Cross lifeguarding certification or equivalent.
- Possess current CPR/AED and first aid certifications.
- Complete a 500-meter swim in under 10 minutes and a half-mile run in under four minutes.
- Successfully complete the 40-hour Pinellas County Beach Patrol training program.
- Be at least 18 years old by the first day of employment.
- Be available to work at county beach parks according to schedule and staffing demands.
- Be able to work various schedules, including weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.
- Hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
Highly desirable qualifications include:
- Current first responder, EMT, or paramedic certification.
- At least three months of lifeguarding experience.
