A tragic accident at a Kansas airfield claimed the life of a woman who was taking photographs near an airplane.
37-year-old Amanda Gallagher was taking pictures at the Air Capital Drop Zone in Derby on Saturday, October 26th, when she backed into a moving propeller, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
Gallagher sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist Gallagher’s family with funeral expenses. The organizer of the fundraiser described Gallagher as “kind, adventurous, creative and beautiful inside and out.”
“She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed,” the organizer wrote.
The incident occurred at Cook Airfield, where a spokesperson expressed condolences to Gallagher’s family and friends but declined to comment on the circumstances of the accident.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young lady who died yesterday after a tragic accident with an airplane propeller on Cook Airfield. I wasn’t there when it happened, so I will not speculate on what could have or should have happened differently. Just please keep her family, her friends, and her Air Capital Drop Zone family in your prayers and thoughts,” said a spokesperson for Cook Airfield.
