PALM HARBOR, Fla. – East Lake Fire Rescue is teaming up with the East Lake Community Library to bring the virtual SAGES play “Phoney Baloney” to the East Lake district!
In this play, a group of friends meet and share tales of being scammed. They then come together to outsmart the dirty, rotten scammers once and for all.
Community members will be able to watch this free event online on Thursday, February 25th from 2pm to 3:30pm. The play runs one hour and then, participants will have an opportunity to discuss the latest scams in our area live after the play. All registrants will receive a goodie bags that include sponsor gifts, educational materials on fraud/scams, playbill, audience feedback form, popcorn, and more! Participants will also have an opportunity to enter into the drawing for a $25 visa gift card.
Learn Hand’s Only CPR
In support of February being American Heart Month, the library and East Lake Fire Rescue are joining forces to have a learn & practice CPR right inside the library! Community members will be able to stop by the library to learn hands only CPR Feb 12th to Mar 1st. Claudia Hernandez from ELFR is bringing “Hank”
the CPR practice mannequin to the East Lake Library. Hank will be lying ‘in-state’ on the purple table out on the library floor. There will be a laptop set up on top of the paperback collection that will be able to run the 1 minute You Tube video of how to do CPR.
This is a hands-only event.
The library will be providing the mandatory gloves that people must wear to practice on Hank after they watch the short video. When the patron is done, library staff will wipe down Hank’s chest for the next person. East Lake Fire Rescue Hosts Blood Drive
East Lake Fire Rescue will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at station 57 from 11 am to 4 pm. Stop by to donate! Many potential blood donors believe that they can’t donate blood due to medical or other reasons, but whether you’ve heard or read information about donation restrictions or been turned down in the past, please do not self-defer. East Lake Fire Rescue Hosts Clothes to Kids Drive
To celebrate National Cleaning Week, East Lake Fire Rescue will be hosting a kids clothes donation drive from March 28th to April 4th, 2021. All donations can be dropped off in the bin right in front of the station 57 entrance located at 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd., Palm Harbor FL.
Donations will go to Clothes To Kids, a non-profit organization that allow kids eligible for free/reduced lunch to shop for a week’s worth of clothes, free of charge. Clothes To Kids is requesting the following sizes: young women (sizes 0 to 22), young men (sizes 18 to 46), children’s size 9 to adult bras, belts, purses, hats, jewelry, backpacks, girl and boys tops sizes S to XL Bottoms: sizes 6 to 16, young women’s pants size 13 to 22 and young men’s clothes bottoms size 18 to 46.
They are also in need of new underwear, socks, and shoes.
