Clearwater Police officers, on Sunday, arrested a murder suspect wanted in connection with a shooting case in Philadelphia.
Officers were alerted by the police communications center of a license tag reader hit that involved a vehicle owned by the suspect, Scott Gonzalez. Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Clearwater Beach and initiate a traffic stop. Gonzalez’s girlfriend was driving the car, and two minor children were also in the vehicle.
Gonzalez provided a false name, date of birth, and Social Security number, but officers were able to ascertain his true identity. He was arrested on the murder warrant out of Pennsylvania and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. He also was charged with providing a false name or identity to law enforcement.
