Officials said Frank James was arrested by patrol officers without incident on the street in New York’s East Village neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon after police got a tip on its Crime Stoppers hotline.
Authorities believe he is the man who donned a gas mask, set off a smoke bomb, and then fired 33 shots on a Manhattan-bound N train, wounding 10 people and leaving nearly two dozen others hurt in the ensuing chaos.
According to NYPD, Frank James is a person of interest in the shooting that took place on the N train in Brooklyn Tuesday morning.
Police were searching for James as a person of interest in connection to a shooting that left at least 29 people shot or otherwise injured when a lone gunman in a reflective vest and a gas mask threw smoke bombs on a subway car in Brooklyn and began shooting Tuesday morning.
A manhunt was underway for James as details continue to emerge in this developing situation, and the NYPD has reportedly located a U-Haul believed to be connected to the shooting.
