Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania called out Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman of New York for downplaying President Joe Biden talking to his son Hunter’s business associates Monday.

Devon Archer, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, who spoke to the House Oversight Committee prior to surrendering to serve a prison sentence, said that Joe Biden spoke with Hunter’s associates in a capacity to represent the Biden family “brand,” according to multiple reports.

Goldman claimed that Archer’s answers merely revealed that President Biden talked about “the weather” and other mundane topics with his son’s business associates.

“What we’re talking about is influence peddling, so if that’s what they’re agreeing to and admitting to, that is a problem,” Perry told Fox News host Trace Gallagher. “Let’s also recognize and acknowledge that the president himself before he was the president and since he’s been elected president said that he had no knowledge of and no dealings with his son’s business acquaintances or operation. Apparently and obviously, that’s completely false and that’s a lie. It makes you wonder what else is being lied about.”

Perry then turned his sights on Goldman, who served as a counsel for House Democrats in the first impeachment of then-President Donald Trump over efforts to push Ukraine to investigate Burisma and Hunter Biden’s dealings with Burisma.

“The one Democrat that sat for the interview with Devon Archer was also … a staff attorney for the original Trump-Russia collusion thing with Burisma and knew they were lying at that time,” Perry said. “So with all due respect, when he talks about, ‘oh they just talked about the weather,’ 20 times the vice president apparently was on the phone, on a speaker phone … with essentially corrupt people from other countries. You don’t even know who is on the other end of the speaker phone. How corrupt is that? How is that not … influence peddling and how is that not compromising the national security of the United States of America with unknown foreign parties?”
