A Pennsylvania woman has been found guilty of murdering her two children, ages 8 and 4, who were found hanged in the basement of their home several years ago. Lisa Snyder, 41, now faces a mandatory life sentence without parole after being convicted on two counts of first-degree murder.

The tragic incident occurred in September 2019, when Snyder called 911 claiming to have found her children, Conner and Brinley, hanging and unresponsive. First responders discovered wire wrapped around the children’s necks and overturned chairs nearby. The children were pronounced dead three days later.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams described the case as a “horrific, tragic incident” and an “emotional investigation.” Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Snyder had ordered the wire used in the hangings just days before the incident and had conducted internet searches on topics such as hanging and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Snyder’s defense claimed that her son had been bullied and wanted to die, and that he had taken his sister with him to the basement because he was afraid to go alone. However, investigators found no evidence of bullying, and a witness testified that the children rarely played in the basement.

The prosecution argued that Snyder’s motive was that she had “expressed to a friend that she had enough.” Additionally, disturbing digital evidence was discovered, including sexually explicit messages about a dog performing sexual acts on Snyder.

A coroner ruled the children’s deaths as homicides by hanging. Snyder is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17th, where she will receive the mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
