A Pittsburgh resident has been sentenced to probation and ordered to pay restitution for stealing over $95,000 in Social Security disability benefits.
William Moriarty, 72, received disability benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA) between August 2010 and May 2018. During this time, he was also employed by a family-owned home healthcare company. Moriarty failed to disclose his employment to the SSA, fraudulently receiving benefits he was not entitled to.

U.S. District Judge Robert J. Colville sentenced Moriarty to 30 months of probation and ordered him to repay $95,100 to the SSA.
The Social Security Administration – Office of the Inspector General conducted the investigation leading to Moriarty’s prosecution.
