A Pennsylvania man was sentenced in federal court on March 19, 2024, to seven years in prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release.
Darren Steven George Akers, 48, of Erie, was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $18,000 on his conviction of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children.
According to court documents, on or about March 9, 2023, Akers received and attempted to receive images depicting prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Akers also possessed and accessed with intent to view child sexual abuse material from in and around May 2022 to in and around March 2023, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Akers.
