Dario Fortunato-Torres, 38, a resident of Mexico with a history of repeated deportations, was sentenced to time served in federal court yesterday for illegally reentering the United States, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced. Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer delivered the sentence on April 28, 2025.
Court records revealed that Fortunato-Torres had been removed from the United States on seven separate occasions between 2013 and 2017.

His most recent encounter with law enforcement occurred on October 8, 2024, when he was arrested by the Moon Township Police Department on traffic violations, charges that were later withdrawn according to public records.
Following this arrest, immigration officials determined that Fortunato-Torres was unlawfully present in the country and subsequently took him into custody on November 19, 2024. He has remained in custody since that time.

Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski represented the government in the prosecution of this case. Upon completion of his sentence, Fortunato-Torres will be returned to the custody of immigration authorities.
