Former Vice President Mike Pence claimed he “was always loyal” to former President Donald Trump during a Monday NewsNation appearance.
“I was always loyal to President Donald Trump and for sure, he was my president. He was my friend, and I don’t regret what we did during the Trump-Pence administration,” Pence told “On Balance” host Leland Vittert.
“The president and I forged a team, not just the two of us, but the team that he assembled throughout our cabinet that rebuilt our military, secured our border, revived our economy, saw three Supreme Court justices appointed, three hundred federal judges, achieved American energy independence and left America more prosperous and stronger than ever before,” said Pence.

Trump slammed Pence on Twitter on Jan. 6, 2021, for not acting to send electoral votes from disputed states back to them. Pence claimed he lacked the authority to unilaterally act on the electoral votes.
Pence said that former President Donald Trump should apologize for dining with Nick Fuentes, a White nationalist known for antisemitic rants who went to Mar-a-Lago with rapper Kanye West.
“President Trump was wrong to give a White nationalist, an antisemite, and a Holocaust denier, a seat at the table, and I think he should apologize for it,” Pence told NewsNation on Monday.
Pence also criticized Trump during a Nov. 14 interview with David Muir, claiming Trump’s “reckless” comments “endangered” him and his family during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
The two fell out in the wake of the riot and its aftermath.
“I’m incredibly proud of that, obviously it didn’t end well, and Jan. 6 was a tragic day, but, as I write in ‘So Help Me, God’ it’s been described, as maybe the most fulsome defense of the Trump-Pence record that’s been written, and I believe that it is because I do believe we demonstrated when you put conservative principles into practice, America is more prosperous, we’re more secure and I hope people reading it who may – there may be greater interest in those final chapters, and I understand that – will look at it and see the totality of our record and be as proud as I am,” Pence said.
Pence added that Trump, who recently announced a 2024 presidential bid, should decry “hateful rhetoric without qualification.”
