HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – At approximately 3:56 a.m. on Sunday morning, two HCSO deputies responded to a pedestrian vs. vehicle traffic crash on eastbound Hillsborough Avenue near the intersection of George Road.
The citizen driver, who hit the male victim on Hillsborough Avenue, called 911 and remained on scene. The man walked into the roadway for unknown reasons at this time and the driver is cooperating with authorities.
As two HCSO deputies were responding to the crash, they struck the body that was still lying in the road, which was previously hit by the citizen driver.
Per the agency’s new policy, the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and in a release said that the victim had sufferered from fatal injuries due to the intial accident.
The deputies involved were Jorge Gonzalez Fundora, 25, and Raymond Weibley, 24. Gonzalez Fundora has been with HCSO since January 2019. Weibley has been with the agency since May 2019. The two do not have any previous history at HCSO.
