As the investigation unfolds, it is crucial to understand the details that have emerged so far.
Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley went missing on March 30, leaving their families and loved ones distraught and desperate for answers.
The two women were on their way from Kansas to Oklahoma to pick up Butler’s children from a birthday party.
However, their journey took a tragic turn, and their remains were discovered on April 14 in rural Texas County, Oklahoma. The investigation into their disappearance and subsequent deaths has since led to the arrest of four individuals prior to Grice’s apprehension.
The Role of Paul Grice
With the arrest of Paul Grice, law enforcement authorities have identified him as a significant player in the case. Grice, along with the other suspects, is alleged to be part of an anti-government group named “God’s Misfits.”
The group reportedly held regular meetings at the residence of Cole and Cora Twombly, two of the previously arrested individuals.
According to court documents, this group had made previous attempts to harm Veronica Butler, indicating a possible motive for their involvement in the murders.

The Arrest and Charges
Paul Grice was taken into custody on April 24 and subsequently booked into the Texas County Jail. The charges levied against him include two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree.
These charges reflect the severity of his alleged involvement in the deaths of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.
As the legal proceedings progress, the prosecution will present evidence to support the charges against Grice, while the defense will have the opportunity to present their case.
The Other Suspects
Prior to Grice’s arrest, authorities had already apprehended four individuals believed to be connected to the murders.
On April 13, 43-year-old Tad Bert Cullum, 54-year-old Tifany Machel Adams, 50-year-old Cole Earl Twombly, and 44-year-old Cora Twombly were arrested in Texas and Cimarron Counties.
All four individuals were booked into the Texas County Jail on two counts of First-Degree Murder, two counts of Kidnapping, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree.
The investigation has revealed that Adams, the paternal grandmother of Butler’s children, had been involved in a custody battle with Butler. Additionally, a teenage witness has come forward, stating that the group had attempted to harm Butler in the past.

The Alleged Motive and Modus Operandi
As law enforcement delves deeper into the case, a possible motive and modus operandi have emerged.
The group known as “God’s Misfits” allegedly harbored anti-government sentiments and had a religious affiliation. Their purported plan was to harm Veronica Butler, and the two mothers became collateral victims.
According to court documents, Adams, Cullum, and Grice were involved in intercepting Butler and Kelley, diverting them from their intended destination.
The Twomblys allegedly blocked the road, leading the women to the location where Adams, Cullum, and Grice were waiting.
