NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call just before 8:30 p.m. on Friday regarding a woman making threats to harm herself while holding a gun in the Suwannee Dr. area of New Port Richey.
Deputies were attempting to get the woman to put the gun down when she pointed the gun toward one of the deputies, who fired a single shot.
Investigators say the shot fired did not strike anyone, including the woman. Shortly after, the woman peacefully surrendered to deputies and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.
No one was injured during the incident and there is no public safety threat, as all parties are accounted for.
PSO will continue the investigation.
