“Like a Horror Movie” Pasco County Deputy-Involved Shooting at a Stabbing Hostage Situation

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – On Saturday, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Pasco County Sheriff deputies responded to a stabbing in progress in the Hicks Rd. and Akers Ln. area of Hudson in Pasco County.

Investigators say that deputies arrived on the scene in an active stabbing situation when the shooting occurred. The scene involved a female hostage.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said that a woman had been stabbed repeatedly, “The victim was covered in blood, it was like a horror movie.”

Two deputies entered the residence and saw the white, adult male suspect inside a bedroom holding a white, adult female, who was in a close, personal relationship with him, at knifepoint. There were multiple witnesses present who had not intervened. The female was stabbed more than 15 times prior to deputies entering the home, and a knife was being held at her throat.

The victim also later stated she had been held against her will for the entirety of the day.Deputies gave the male suspect, who has a previous domestic violence arrest, multiple commands to drop the knife, which he did not, and two PSO members fired at the suspect, as he was making another movement towards the female who was critically injured, to protect the female from further harm.

The suspect was struck and his condition is part of the ongoing investigation. No deputies were injured in the shooting.

“Domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues. This is the real crisis in our society. The real crisis in our country and if we don’t address it we’re going to continue to see these crises go on and continue,” said Nocco.

FDLE will be handling the investigation. We will update this story as more information is released.
