PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – The Pasco Sheriff’s Office (PSO) is warning residents about a rising scam involving fraudulent claims of missed jury duty or outstanding warrants. Scammers are posing as PSO representatives, often using real names of deputies or staff to appear legitimate.

In these scams, victims are falsely told they missed jury duty or a court appearance, leading to a supposed warrant for their arrest. The scammer then instructs the victim to resolve the issue by paying a fee through PayPal or similar payment platforms.

The scammers may use blocked phone numbers or spoof PSO’s official numbers, including the general information line, to deceive victims further.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that these calls are not legitimate. PSO does not handle jury duty notifications, nor does it contact residents to demand payment for any issue, criminal or otherwise.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid sharing personal information, and report any suspicious calls to authorities.
