PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s Office encourages citizens to take precautions while getting any last-minute holiday shopping done this holiday season.
It’s easy to get distracted, and sadly, there are many opportunities for criminals to do some “shopping” too.
You can avoid becoming a victim with these safety tips from PSO:
- Park in a well-lit and highly visible spot, remove belongings when exiting the car and store packages in a trunk, out of sight.
- Use a credit card instead of a debit card for additional security when making purchases.
- Inspect gift cards for signs of tampering before purchasing or placing a balance on them.
- Opting for digital gift cards can be a safer option.
- Beware of suspiciously low pricing. If a deal looks too good, it may be fake.
Taking extra precautions this holiday season goes a long way in ensuring your safety.
