Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) has announced Lyndon Coleman, Assistant Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach, as its new Athletic Director, effective March 3, 2025. Coleman will take on the leadership role while continuing to serve as the head coach of the PHSC Bobcats baseball team.

Coleman, a former standout baseball player for the Bobcats under previous Athletic Director Steve Winterling, becomes the fourth athletic director in the college’s history, succeeding Winterling. During his time as a player (2009-2010), Coleman earned All-Suncoast Conference honors and contributed to the team’s record-setting 37-win season. He later played for Barry University, contributing to their successful 2011 season.

Coleman’s coaching career includes stints at Barry University, St. Petersburg College, and various collegiate summer ball teams. He returned to PHSC in 2016 as a recruiting coordinator and assistant baseball coach, working alongside Winterling. Over his 10-year tenure at PHSC, including eight as head coach, Coleman has been part of 317 wins, with 214 as head coach.

He has earned multiple coaching accolades, including NJCAA D2 Southeast District Coach of the Year in 2019 and three Sun-Lakes Conference Coach of the Year awards (2022, 2023, 2024). Under his leadership, the Bobcats have won three consecutive Sun-Lakes Conference championships and achieved a third-place finish at the 2019 NJCAA DII World Series.

Coleman has also demonstrated a strong commitment to student-athlete success, with an average of 10 players per year moving on to four-year institutions, including many Division I schools. He has maintained a consistent graduation rate and academic performance within his program. Three of his players have been drafted into Major League Baseball organizations.

Beyond his on-field success, Coleman has been instrumental in facility improvements, including the installation of a new baseball irrigation system and field turf in 2020, and LED Musco field lighting in 2021. He has also played a key role in fundraising efforts, raising $300,000 for the athletics program.

Coleman has also been active in community service, supporting local organizations and events.

“What Lyndon has done with the baseball program over the past several years is a model for what we would like to see across PHSC Athletics,” said PHSC President Jesse Pisors, Ed.D. “That, probably more than anything else, is what made it clear to me that Lyndon Coleman was the right person to follow Steve Winterling in this role. He also has been a great coach, and since the Athletic Director is the ‘leader of coaches,’ his model work as a head coach gives him a particular leadership strength in this aspect of his new job.”
