PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – The Pasco Sheriff’s Office has reported a concerning spike in auto burglaries this week, with a common thread linking the incidents to unlocked and running vehicles left unattended.

In response, the Sheriff’s office urges residents to adopt the #9pmRoutine to safeguard their vehicles and belongings.

“A quick run into your home or a store is all the time needed for a possible criminal to steal your car and belongings,” the Sheriff’s Office warned in a statement. “Lock your doors whenever you leave your vehicle, no matter the time or place.”

The #9pmRoutine is a simple yet effective crime prevention strategy that involves taking a few moments each night to ensure your vehicle and property are secure. This includes locking car doors, removing valuables from sight, and closing garage doors.
