PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a suspect today in New Port Richey after the suspect attempted to strike the deputy with their car.
Earlier in the day, deputies tried to serve federal warrants on the suspect but were initially unsuccessful. After later locating the suspect, a brief pursuit ensued, but was quickly terminated.

Around 1:15 PM, detectives again located the suspect in the River Ridge area. When they attempted to make contact, the suspect refused to comply and reportedly tried to hit a detective with their car. The detective then fired their weapon, injuring the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies were harmed during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details are currently available. The Sheriff’s Office assures the public there is no ongoing safety threat.
