HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Palmetto man has died following a crash on Interstate 275 in Hillsborough County that was triggered by a medical emergency.
The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon around 3:15 PM near Milepost 37. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 59-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry southbound in the outside lane when he experienced a medical episode.

Losing control of his vehicle, he veered into the center right lane, colliding with a Honda Accord driven by a 73-year-old woman from Palm Bay. The Camry then continued forward, striking a barrier wall before coming to a stop.
Emergency responders transported the Palmetto man to a local hospital, where he tragically passed away. The woman driving the Accord was thankfully unharmed in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
