PALATKA, Fla. – A Palatka man is facing federal charges for allegedly lying on firearm purchase forms.
Vance Perry, 67, has been indicted for making a false statement to federally licensed firearms dealers during attempted gun purchases.
According to the indictment, Perry falsely claimed on the required paperwork that he had not been convicted of a domestic violence offense. However, records indicate that Perry was previously convicted of domestic battery in 2021.

Federal law prohibits individuals convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from purchasing firearms. Making a false statement on a firearm purchase form is a felony offense.
This case was uncovered through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which flags prohibited individuals who attempt to purchase firearms.

If convicted, Perry could face up to five years in federal prison.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that aims to reduce gun violence through community partnerships and strategic enforcement.
