SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic head-on collision occurred on CR-472 west of NE 42nd Boulevard on Monday evening around 7:03 pm, resulting in the death of a 55-year-old Oxford woman and serious injuries to two others.
The incident involved a Cadillac CTS driven by a 52-year-old Ocala man and a Nissan Altima driven by the Oxford woman. The Ocala man was reportedly attempting to pass other vehicles when he entered the eastbound lane and collided nearly head-on with the Altima.

The impact caused both vehicles to spin onto the south shoulder of the road, with the Cadillac overturning multiple times.
The Oxford woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ocala man and an 81-year-old passenger in the Altima, from Yorkville, Illinois, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
