Overturned Semi-Truck Caused 5-Hour Traffic Delays In Winter Haven: Polk County Sheriff

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A semi-truck accident caused significant traffic backups in Winter Haven, Florida, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. The roadway has since reopened.

Around 1:30 PM today, a semi-truck carrying a large concrete barrier overturned while making a right turn at the intersection of Thornhill Road and Winter Lake Road. The barrier spilled into the roadway, blocking traffic.

The eastbound lanes of Winter Lake Road were completely closed as crews used a crane to remove the barrier. Drivers experienced delays of up to five hours or more.

Motorists were strongly urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while the scene was cleared.
