ORLANDO, Fla. – Teresa Eve Hunt, a 63-year-old from Orlando, has pleaded guilty to stealing government funds. She faces up to 10 years in prison and has agreed to return the stolen money to the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Hunt’s mother received benefits from both agencies, which were deposited into an account Hunt had access to.

After her mother’s death in 2016, Hunt failed to report it and continued to use the benefits for her expenses. She stole a total of $62,857 in Social Security benefits and $59,120.95 in VA benefits.
The Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Del Mastro. Hunt’s sentencing is scheduled for December 11, 2024.
