An Orlando man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for possessing an unregistered machine gun and 15 machine gun conversion devices.
Marcelo Manuel Maysonet, 23, pleaded guilty to the charges on July 25th, 2024. Law enforcement officers discovered the illegal firearms during a search of Maysonet’s residence.

Machine gun conversion devices are illegal modifications that convert semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic weapons. Under the National Firearms Act, these devices are classified as machine guns and must be registered. None of the items found in Maysonet’s possession were registered as required by law.
The case was investigated by the ATF and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
