Orlando Man Pleads Guilty To Fentanyl Distribution, Faces Up To Life In Prison

ORLANDO, Fla. – Luis Miguel Plaza, 33, of Orlando, has pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute, according to a statement from United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Plaza faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison.

Court documents reveal that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted a series of controlled fentanyl purchases from Plaza using undercover agents and confidential informants.

These purchases, totaling over 1,100 pills, occurred between August 2023 and January 2024.

In February 2024, during another arranged transaction, Plaza was arrested with over 7,000 fentanyl pills in his possession. The combined weight of the fentanyl seized during the investigation was approximately 865 grams.

The DEA investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Diane Hu. A sentencing date for Plaza has not yet been set.
