ORLANDO, Fla. –A convicted felon from Orlando has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm.
Xavier Hernandez-Gerena, 35, pleaded guilty to the charge in August 2024.
The case stemmed from a traffic stop in July 2022, during which law enforcement officers discovered a firearm in his vehicle. As a convicted felon, Hernandez-Gerena is prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
It was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer.
