Axios reported Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris has shifted her stance on allocating hundreds of millions of dollars toward constructing a wall along the southern border.
No amount of anonymous aides’ attempts to revise history can change Kamala Harris’ consistent opposition to border security, particularly her longstanding campaign against President Trump’s border wall.
If Vice President Harris intends to shift her stance, she should clarify her position publicly. Until then, her track record on the issue speaks for itself.
- “I’ve joined my colleagues to introduce a bill that would rescind Trump’s order to construct the border wall.” (2017)
- President Trump’s border wall is “un-American.” (2018)
- Trump’s border wall is a “medieval vanity project.” (2019)
- “I’m not gonna vote for a [border] wall under any circumstances.” (2019)
- “This issue is about a vanity project… that wall ain’t going to stop [illegals].” (2019)
- “[President Trump’s] vanity project called a wall.” (2019)
- “We don’t need to build a wall… it is not an emergency.” (2019)
- “A vanity project that he calls a wall.” (2019)
- “We cannot continue to have an administration and a president of the United States who puts his vanity projects ahead of the needs of the people.” (2019)
- “Trump’s border wall is a complete waste of taxpayer money and won’t make us any safer.” (2020)

This history doesn’t even account for Harris’ role in an administration that stopped construction of Trump’s border wall on their first day in office.
Harris also supports mass amnesty, sanctuary cities, abolishing ICE, decriminalizing illegal border crossings, and providing free healthcare for undocumented immigrants. After playing a part in policies that have led to millions of illegal entries into the country, her recent signals about prioritizing border enforcement ring hollow.

The reality remains that Kamala Harris has built a reputation as a vocal opponent of border security, committed to policies that critics describe as far-left, open-border measures.
Any attempt to suggest otherwise requires more than a walk-back — it demands clear, public explanation from the Vice President herself.
