TAMPA, Fla. – As thousands of people filled Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa for the annual Parade of Pirates at Gasparilla, there was little trouble to be had. Except for those pesky pirates and scattering for those beloved beads.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested only one person for boating under the influence and ejected two during today’s Gasparilla festivities.

No Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies were injured during parade operations, according to HCSO.

“I’m thankful for our deputies that worked out in the heat today to ensure that everyone who attended the parade was able to do so safely,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Your Sheriff’s Office prepared for our annual pirate invasion for months, so to see it go off so smoothly is something teamHCSO should be proud of.”

As the Tampa Free Press reported earlier, there was an incident where a 78-year-old man fell from a float onto Bayshore Boulevard.

The man was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
