SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened just before 11:30 pm on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Sarasota Police officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Courtland Street, Sarasota, for a report of a vehicle versus a home where a vehicle crashed into a garage.
When officers arrived, several witnesses said there were six women who were inside the garage during the crash.
Three of the six women were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with injuries. One woman died on the scene and two other women sustained minor injuries.
The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit, Criminalistics Unit, and Victim Advocate responded to the scene.
Jorge Luis Williams Denis, 29, of Sarasota, is facing charges of, DUI Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide, No Valid Drivers License Resulting in Death, and No Valid Drivers License with Serious Bodily Injury (3 counts).
Denis is being held at the Sarasota County Jail on no bond (booking photo attached). It’s unknown if drugs or speed played a factor in the crash.
The crash is under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.
