TARPON SPRINGS, FL. – On Thursday at approximately 6:55 pm, Tarpon Springs Police Department officers responded to the area of E. Tarpon Ave and S. Highland Ave in reference to a vehicle crash.
Police say that the preliminary investigation information is that a Black (2009) Nissan Cube was traveling Northbound on S. Highland Ave attempting to turn west onto E. Tarpon Ave. A White (2014) Dodge Ram was traveling Eastbound on E. Tarpon Ave. The vehicles collided at this intersection.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as was the passenger of the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
At this time the names of persons involved are not being released pending further investigation and Marsy’s Law.
The crash is being investigated by Tarpon Springs Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit. At this point, there are no charges and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
