ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An overnight fire in St. Petersburg has claimed the life of one person, according to officials.

According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, at approximately 12:30 a.m., fire crews responded to 6500 block of Pasadena Avenue South for reports of a house on fire.

Crews arrived to find a house with heavy fire from all sides.

The fire was extinguished without incident.

Due to extensive damage and structural instability, firefighters were unable to complete a detailed search of the home until daylight.

Firefighters located a deceased victim during the detailed search of the structure.

The cause of the fire is considered suspicious at this time and is under investigation.
