Oklahoma Woman Pleads Guilty To ‘Heat Of Passion’ Manslaughter

An Oklahoma woman entered a guilty plea last week to one county voluntary manslaughter in an incident that happened in November 2022.

Wanda Kay Friday, age 53, of Peggs, Oklahoma, shot and killed the victim on November 25, 2022, during a sudden quarrel and heat of passion.

The crime occurred in Cherokee County, within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation, in eastern Oklahoma.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The plea was accepted in Muskogee by the Honorable D. Edward Snow, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, who also ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
