An Oklahoma man and his girlfriend face child abuse charges after allegedly tying the man’s 15-year-old daughter to a tree for three days in Vera, Oklahoma.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on July 28 regarding suspected child abuse and discovered the teenager tied to a tree in the yard, sleeping on a piece of carpet. The victim, visiting from Texas, reported being tied up multiple times over three days, according to the Examiner-Enterprise

The father, Johnny James, 40, admitted to using ratchet straps to restrain his daughter, citing her developmental issues and a desire to prevent her from soiling herself inside the home.
His girlfriend, Kayla Clark, 42, has been charged with enabling child neglect.
Relatives of the victim reportedly expressed fear of James, explaining their delayed reporting of the abuse. Other children residing in the home have been placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services Child Welfare.

James and Clark are currently held in Washington County Jail on charges of child abuse and enabling child neglect, respectively.
