SPRING HILL, Fla. – A Hernando County Sheriff’s detective on his way to work apprehended a man who was allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer and running a red light.
Detective William Harsanyi was driving northbound on Commercial Way in Spring Hill on Tuesday morning when he noticed a black Dodge Charger with suspicious modifications, including a “push bumper” with red and blue lights. As the two vehicles approached the intersection of Spring Hill Drive and Commercial Way, the Charger’s driver activated the illegal lights and proceeded through a red traffic signal.

Detective Harsanyi immediately radioed for patrol deputies to conduct a traffic stop. The Charger was located near Lowe’s on Commercial Way, and the driver, identified as 25-year-old Frank Michael DeJiulio Jr. of Hudson, was arrested.
DeJiulio initially denied having red and blue lights on his vehicle but confessed after Detective Harsanyi confronted him. He was charged with false personation of a law enforcement officer, prohibited use of certain lights, and failure to obey a traffic control device. His bond was set at $6,000.
The vehicle, which belongs to DeJiulio’s girlfriend, was towed.
